I finally finished building and writing the first batch of content for my new blog called Bikes and Bacon. Check it out here: bikesandbacon.com

What is it about?

It’s about cycling adventures, big and small. Ride reports, honest gear reviews, recent and retrospective stories from the journeys. Find out more here: https://www.bikesandbacon.com/about

But you normally write about design and code, wtf man…

I know, but I thought it’s about time to give myself a little break from constant coding and side-hustling. Though the best and most exciting part about this blog was…

Coding it from scratch!

I’m aware of Wordpress, but hey, why not building a simple CMS with Vue.js and Google Firebase? Why not play around with static site generator in Nuxt.js and plug it all in on Vercel for a completely free hosting solution with continuos deployment? Oh, there’s also Sendinblue for handling the newsletter subscribers and ImageKit hooked up with Firebase Storage for image optimisation and hosting. Frontend uses some Zurb Foundation elements but mostly consists of a very basic bespoke SCSS. I also added Disqus for time being as the commenting module.

I’m pretty happy with the result so far, and I can’t wait to find some time to write up more posts.
